I'm surprised that for models with flat colors, like anime models or some VTubers, they use 8K, but anyway, for my personal use, I tweak the textures and save the original cards on another drive in case I want to share them.

Japanese and Chinese card creators are very demanding when it comes to detail; don't be surprised if you find iris overlays with a resolution of 4K or higher.
Unfortunately, I saw someone x years ago (I don't remember who), who had 80+ active accessories. Each one had a 4k detail mask (ironically, a solid color, which can be replaced with a few pixels at most), a 4k color mask (also a solid color), and a 4k alpha mask/main texture (this is relative to the native size, alls fuckup.). The problem isn't with their requirements, but rather with their sloppy optimizations, without visual effects.
Because if they were adapting to the native dimension, they would have the same visual effects as in lower dimensions.(sometime better.)
12k x +80 for only accessories.(my pc from 2016&2018 gona die for +1h)

gonna be a hard trip i bet... i load the scene and i get the default chick how i make the character do the animation instead of the chick that appear wen i import the scene

EDIT: is there someone here with the patience of a monk to teach this humble TDHD guy who is very dumb how to use scenes and etc? maybe dm me or send me to the ran...i mean somewhere more apropiate..not the ranch pls

For example, recently I recreated Toto from an anime called Magi, I usage something like +80 accessories, the total number of pixels does not even exceed 20 thousand.(I'm haved obsesion for optimization. )




Damn, I could use some hair assets for the port, because I don't even want to reproduce hairgloss, on that many hairs assets. XD

I appreciate you finding this, I guess the searches I used didn't count even though the tags are present.

If that's your opinion though, any particular reason? Is it because of the author or something else?


Edit: Oh, I see it uses madevil plugins and stuff, well that's a real bummer because the author seems to have already ported the dragon girl too which isn't even out yet.....

That's where another detail comes in with hair mods: it's not just the dynamic bones and collisions (which can all be corrected in Koikatsu itself), but the sheer number of accss you can end up using in a single outfit.

In the end, since most of the hair strands I use come from the same mod, I only apply the hairgloss to one strand and copy the material for all of them. The situation changes if that strand uses specific or modified masks.

Another detail is the complete hair mods (created or imported in Blender). You have to export the base head from the game to fit it properly; otherwise, you'll have strands that overlap the face, or you'll have to create a special alpha mask for the head. It's even more annoying to do this than the hairgloss mod, believe me.

I had to make two mods of Toji Fushiguro's hair because I exported the first one to Unity as is, and the second one, already modified and fitting the head better, in Koikatsu.

The only good thing I get from using full heads of hair instead of individual strands is reducing the number of accessories to just one.

Yup, that true.
The worst thing is when the textures are dependent on Blender. Unfortunately, some time ago I found some cool assets for Shimoneta, which Jinsung ported at my request. Unfortunately, the texture wasn't usable to export, and the UV map itself is constructed in such a way that even if I wanted to, there's no way I could reproduce a similar visual and detailed effect on the main texture.
(with Anna, if it weren't for the shader KKUTS, I would even have a problem with the color, surprisingly, even the visual effect came close. XD)

The good thing is that many models, both hair and various accessories that have the UV map made into a spaghetti, can have a slight gloss thanks to AnotherRamp, although that also depends on the graduation you use for said texture; It usually gives a metallic touch but can be varied a little. Even with models with disastrous UV Map it has given me results, but there may be exceptions.

Apart from that, I recognize the creator of those models, I remember that there were some from Galko that they exported for SFM, the detail is that they are originally models for blender, so they came without facial rigs or blendshapes in their mdl format. kek

The detail that currently exists with video game models that you want to transfer to Koikatsu is the UV Map, since, almost always, you will find that they have collapsed everything to be able to fit an entire character in a single texture; I take the Dragon Ball Xenoverse models as an example. But it's not the end of the world either, there are those who break down the UV Map well and even make a new and more detailed texture.

find and select the female character in the workspace then click change character instead of confirm
